IS IT NECESSARY TO PROTECT MOBILE SCREEN/ TABLET SCREEN WHEN THE COMPANY IS ALREADY GIVEN ''GORILLA GLASS" OR "DRAGONTRAIL GLASS"????
First of all neither the GORILLA GLASS making company {CORNING} nor the DRAGONTRAIL GLASS making company {ARCII} have claimed that "THE GLASSES ARE SCRATCH PROVED", instead the have said "THE GLASSES ARE SCRATCH RESISTANT".
Before starting the logic, please see the below content MOHS SCALE OF HARDNESS--
The table given has simple meaning-- 1 ranking means least hard or softest where as 10 ranking means hardest or least soft.
Lets think about a material which has hardness ranking 7. It simply means if you cut that 7ranking material with a knife made of up material below ranking 7 , it will not give any scratch to that.
Now the fact is the hardness of GORILLA GLASS or DRAGONTRAIL GLASS ia near 6.5 .
If you scratch your phpne screen with keys,knife or coins which are available in our pocket than there will not be any effect on the screen as the hardness of these items are below 6.5. But if you rob sands on the screen it will be scratched although sands are very small particle but higher in hardness as quartz are available in sands.
Now the thing is what we should use for protection--
It will be better to use plastic screen guard instead of tempered glass.Because the functions of both are same but air bubbles are created in tempered glasses on the screen which effect the screen reslution,where as no such issue are their in plastic screen guard. Again Plastic screen guards are 10 times cheaper than tempered glasses.
